The Ruby Princess Inaugural Fall 2008

The Ruby Princess will be the newest cruise ship on the water in November 2008.   The Ruby Princess will be a sister ship of the Crown Princess.  It will have almost 900 balcony staterooms.   The Ruby will cruise the Eastern and Western Caribbean.

I have a fast growing group taking advantage of the fact that not many people are aware of the Ruby Princess.   Only the most faithful of the Princess cruisers know that the Ruby will be introduced in the fall of 2008 and that you are able to book cabins now.  Due to not many people knowing about the upcoming ship, the rates are low.  As soon as Princess starts to market the Ruby Princess, rates will most likely go up rapidly.   Cruising on a new ship is special and the price people are willing to pay is higher than an older ship.  Today, the rates on the Ruby Princess are very close to its older sister ships.

I have recently booked 9 Balcony cabins  on the 11.29.08 sailing of the Ruby Princess doing a Western Caribbean Itinerary.   The Rate for the Balconies was  $847 per person and each cabin is getting $50 on board credits.  Currently, there is very little info on the Ruby Princess out on the internet.  After booking my group, I thought it would be good to get a post on the blog to let you know now is a good time to book the Ruby.

  • Just wanted to let you know, I booked 3 balcony cabins today (2/15/08) for the 11/29 cruise. Each cabin was $2301 with all charges and insurance.

  • On 3/1, we booked for the 12/27 cruise, one Balcony at $1949/One State room at $1429/One mini suite at $2200 (this includes $50 pp discount) We also get a $25 per room on board credit

  • Jim k,

Do those rates include all taxes? And are they per person or per cabin?

  • Jim K,

A balcony at $1949 is a great deal. Did that include your taxes and insurance? We did not get onboard credit. But, I just happened to be at my TA signing the papers when the local Princess representative came in and when asked about the onboard credits, she said no, Princess was not doing them, but would make sure I was taken care of (in terms of a gift of some sort in our cabin when we cruise, which was fine with me.

Cruisenow, those prices should not be per person but should be per cabin.

    Happy Cruising All!

  • Pam,

My group that I am booking on that sail date are paying $1924 total with taxes, port charges, etc. for the balcony. Plus they are getting a $50 on board credit.

Insurance is costing them another $100 per cabin. So the total is $2024.

    Thanks!

  • How in the world were you able to secure $1924 per cabin double occupancy for a 12/27 sailing of the Ruby Princess? I have been looking for a month now, and the best I can do is ~$1400 per person for an ocean view room. Help!

    Thanks,
    June

  • sorry, been some time since I have been on. The prices I quoted were per person and did include all taxes and fees.

  • So the kids are grown and now it’s time for us to play!

Anyways, we went on our first ocean cruise together last October 07 aboard the Caribbean
Princess. To sum it up it 10 words or less, we had the time of our lives!

About 6 months ago, we booked our second ocean cruise aboard the Ruby Princess, thinking we’d be on her maiden voyage. But as it turned out, because of the progess was that was being made in building her, Princess advanced her inaugural sail date by a week and we didn’t catch it in time to make the changes. Oh well.

No matter though, because we’ll have a great time ringing the holidays in with a weeklong cruise just a short week before Thanksgiving! And I won’t tell you how inexpensively we got a portside, midship balcony stateroom, because you’d die if you knew.

Just a hint….the $2,500.00 total cost of the vacation includes round trip airfare for 2 from Maryland plus a 1 night stay at a nearby Hampton Inn, including dinner & shuttle.

    Not too shabby!

Oh yeah, one last thought. We’ve already booked our 3rd cruise for Valentine’s Day 2009 aboard the Monarch Of The Seas. Why don’t you join us and the Rippingtons for a 3 day party to the Bahamas & back?
