Advice for getting the best Cruise Price in 2009

My Advice for getting the best price for 2009 cruises is to book soon. All of the major cruise lines recently removed the Fuel Surcharges! This alone is saving clients an average of $70 per person on a 7-Night Cruise.

Today was the first day in several months where I noticed prices increasing on over 50% of the sailings. My guess is that demand has picked up and the cruise lines may be trying to compensate for the loss of the Fuel Surcharges. The total price you are paying for a cruise is lower today than it was 2 weeks ago but slightly higher then it was last week. Several of the Cruise lines are currently offering ship board credits up to $500 on 7-night sailings. These deals expire in Early 2009. My opinion is if you are cruising in 2009, you can book now to lock in the current low rates with a fully refundable deposit. Several Agencies such as CruiseDeals.com do not charge booking or cancellation fees. Typically, if the rates drop between now and your planned cruise the lower rate will be honored. My advice to get the best rate for 2009 is to book now before the New Year when everyone else will be booking (rates will go up)!

  1. I just tried to book a cruise on cruisedeals.com and they told me to pick a different airport. I live in Alaska. I put down Anchorage (ANC) and they don’t book out of Anchorage. They should delete our state from the drop down list if they don’t accomodate people from Alaska.
