Traveling as a family of five is often costly and inconvenient, but NCL is making it easier!
As a family of five, we’re often challenged to find accommodations when we travel. Limited inventory for ‘more-than-four’ often just doesn’t exist, meaning we often end up booking two rooms at additional expense and sacrificing togetherness.
When we are lucky enough to find an accommodation for five, following the rule of supply and demand, it’s almost never available on any kind of sale, coupon, or promotional rate. In fact, it’s also usually at an inflated rate. We get it. . .our choice to be a bigger family doesn’t mean we’re supposed to get special treatment, but it sure is nice when we can get a break!
With the arrival of the brand new Norwegian Epic, the options for families of five (and six) just got better. Their Courtyard Villas not only accommodate six people in two bedrooms, they also have two full baths and even a separate entrance.
So, you can imagine my delight to be invited, along with my wife and children, to the inaugural of the Norwegian Epic this July 4th Holiday weekend in New York City. Not only will we be among the first (if not the first) family of five to experience these new suites, we’ll be enjoying the Independence Day fireworks from the decks of the Epic since NCL is co-sponsoring the show along with Macy’s.
“My Dad is The Man!” My kids will have an experience they’ll never forget and think I’m “the man.” Beyond just the fact that we’re going on this invitation-only event on the world’s newest ship, I let them know that Nickelodeon is an NCL partner and has their Slime Time Live show onboard. I’m sure the fireworks will ice the cake completely for them.
After looking the Epic website, even my wife is impressed which is saying something; we’re both former cruise ship crewmembers so we sometimes fall into a “been there, done that” mindset. The prospect of a weekend in New York City for July 4th, along with wonderful accommodations and all the other innovations and entertainment aboard the Epic has got us really amped up too! I’m excited for them to see Blue Man Group—I saw it live in Vegas a few years ago and had a blast.
We plan to share our photos and observations with regular photo posts to our dedicated NCL Epic Celebration page and hope you’ll visit to learn from our experience.
Finally, five is a lucky number for family travelers—thanks NCL, for building the Epic and inviting us to see it first!
