Undercover Boss – NCL’s kick-off to wave season

Norwegian Cruise Line, the mavericks of the cruise industry does it again with their CEO, Kevin Sheehan going undercover on the hit CBS TV show Undercover Boss.   It was awesome to see the hardworking crew from the Pride of America and NCL Epic getting showcased on national television.   Kevin also added $100,000 to the crew enrichment program benefitting all 14,000 NCL Crew members.

Kick-off to Wave Season

Norwegian Cruise Line being featured on a popular nationally televised TV Show on January 2nd was a great way to kick-off wave season.   Wave season is the time of year (January – March) when most people plan and book their vacations.  For NCL to get infront of millions of Americans for an hour at the time of year when people are deciding what type of vacation they will be taking in 2011 is a huge win for the whole cruise industry.

Norwegian Cruise Line’s TV History

Being #3 in the contempory cruise market allows NCL to do things differently and “rock the boat”.   They took a small calculated risk by allowing Peter Greenberg and CNBC to do a behind the scenes look at the Cruise Industry on Cruise Inc: Big Money on the High Seas in March 2010.    Back in 2006, Rosie O’Donnell aired a documentary on HBO about her gay and lesbian family cruise aboard the NCL Dawn.   I’m impressed by how NCL continues to find creative ways to get their onboard experience infront of millions of viewers.

While watching Undercover Boss, I noticed that CruiseDeals.com is selling Pride of America Summer 2011 Hawaii Cruises for $1000 less than the competition and NCL!  That is some serious loot!
