Crowdsourcing Twitter: Cruise Guide for Charleston
With CruiseDeals.com located in Charlotte, NC, we have lots of clients taking advantage of the close proximity of the Port of Charleston and cruising on the Carnival Fantasy. So we are attempting to crowdsource Twitter to create the ultimate guide for clients cruising out of Charleston, SC. Of course, the guide will be posted on CruiseSource for all of the internet to use.
Help create the Cruise Guide for Charleston, SC
We advise cruisers to arrive a day or two before their cruise leaves to experience the port city as well as to ensure that there are no issues making it to the ship in time. For those who are cruising out of the beautiful port city of Charleston, we want to share advice from our friends on Twitter who are Charleston locals or who have cruised out of Charleston.
What?
We are looking for advice on great hotels, restaurants, must-see sites or tours, convenience, awesome values, and anything else to make the Charleston experience as memorable as possible. [We will accept self promotion if your business can live up to the hype]
How
Please leave your tips in the comments with your Twitter ID so we can give you credit in the guide, or you can send @CruiseDeals the tip, or email me your tip with Twitter ID: rtucker at CruiseDeals.com.

Excited to get out First Tips in From Twitter:
From @adoghere:
@CruiseDeals walk around the battery during the day and market street at night….. or vise versa
From @TheAnchorageInn:
@CruiseDeals The Anchorage is one of the closest stays to the cruise ship terminal, and offers some great rates to cruise ship passengers
I like going to the rooftop bar at the Vendue Inn, especially with a bit of warmer weather going in. It’s got a great view of the city (including the Ravenel Bridge connecting Charleston to Mt. Pleasant over the Cooper River), though I do recommend going a bit earlier in the day.
In the immediate Market/French Quarter area, Tommy Condon’s and T-Bonz are good spots for food and beverage. Kaminsky’s, attached to T-Bonz, is great for dessert.
If looking for nightlife, Social Wine Bar is a really good place along East Bay. Cigar-smoking types should look into Club Habana, one of the few smoking bars left in Charleston. Very relaxing atmosphere up there.
King Street is full of good restaurants — the Mellow Mushroom location in particular prides itself on a diverse beer selection (for your readers who are really into that).
I’m sure I’ll think of more and send them your way, Rich
The Gin Joint in Charleston is fantastic. They make the best drinks I’ve ever had and have a nice place to meet people.

Thank you @CiaoPizza for the great tip!
Charleston Cooks downtown is a GREAT place to combine participating in cooking demonstrations with browsing for kitchen/cooking supplies.
Almost next door is SNOB (Slightly North of Broad), a restaurant that consistently gets rave reviews.
Another downtown restaurant to check out if you want to experience Southern fare is Virginia’s on King.
Need to walk off your meal? Ghost walking tours are very interesting and combine unique history tidbits with a very pleasant walk around the downtown historic housing community. If going in the summer, take the evening tours to avoid the oppressive heat and humidity.
