The purpose of this post is to let you know about the best cruise sales that are ending soon as well as cruise sales that are coming next week. Many of the best deals only last 1 – 3 days, like the $2600 rate drop coming next week on a Celebrity Solstice Summer Med Cruise. Details on the Solstice deal are below.
River Cruising Hot: A Deal that Smokes!
You may not think of us for river cruises, but you do know us for deals. . . so we’ve put them together for some truly exclusive pricing on the fastest growing way to see Europe! Before we get to the deals, a bit about this type of vacation. River cruising combines the best of what a blue-water cruise offers (unpack once, fine dining, transport between cities while you’re sleeping) with the hands-on experience of European land-based tours:
- You’re instantly immersed in the history and culture of Europe’s famous cities . . . most river cruises dock in the very heart of the historic cities they visit
- “Up-close-and-personal” shore excursions that are included
- Small group travel so you really get to know your fellow cruisers and crew
The most misunderstood aspects of river cruises can be summed up in two statements:
- It’s only for old people. . . not true! While you won’t find the young family or Vegas crowd, you’ll see the same kind of travelers as on other experiential destinations (Europe, Alaska, Panama Canal, and Canada/New England are good examples).
- It’s very expensive. . . also not true! River cruises come in all price points, from modest to extravagant. . .just like blue-water cruises. But river cruises generally include tours in the various cities, soft drinks, regional wines and beers with meals, and complimentary wireless Internet access.
So, I mentioned “smoking deals” earlier. . .
We’ve teamed up with Avalon Waterways (part of the world-renowned Globus) to bring you a truly exclusive river cruise deal on eight (8) voyages, ranging from five to 13 days. But because we have such a distinct price advantage, Avalon has asked that we not advertise or post it publicly. I know, you’re thinking this is some sort of come-on. . . but it’s not. IF you are a SEAMail subscriber, you’ll get the information in your mailbox on today (Friday, June 17th). If you’re not a SEAMail subscriber, just give us a call and we can tell you about it or send you a link for more info. Let me say that if you take advantage of our deal, you will be paying a lot less than everyone else! Of our eight departures, here’s my hand-picked favorite:
Romantic Rhine for 8 Days from Zurich to Amsterdam. My wife is from Germany so I’ve been several times but have seen nothing because we never get past hanging with the in-laws. This river journey would take us to many great historic cities in Germany. Also consider going in a few days early to see Zurich with side trips to Montreaux on Lake Geneva and Lake Como in Italy. Avalon’s parent company has great pre- and post-cruise add-on packages to make the most of your overseas visits.
Europe Blue Water Deals
Europe this summer has been a buyer’s market for sure. . .thanks to higher summer airfares, a lot of folks haven’t been able to take advantage of the deals. We’re now seeing some great prices continue into the fall,AND more attractive air prices.
How about $949 for a Balcony on Celebrity Solstice for 12 Nights? This one departs November 4th, round-trip from Barcelona to Italy, Greece and Turkey. I don’t believe this deal will survive the week! We did some air shopping to get sample prices and found the best prices from the west coast—Los Angeles and Seattle both had flights on Spanair around $650 per person. Again, they probably won’t last long but someone’s going to get a great deal!
Doubling Down at Royal Caribbean: AMEX Card Onboard and Choice Air Credits. Last week Martha wrote about Voyager of the Seas 7 Night Adriatic Cruises out of Venice, where you get $300 onboard credit ($500 for suites) if book by June 22nd and pay with your Amex card. On top of that, you can now get an added discount of $300 to $500 per cabin ($2,000 for suites), when you use RCI’s Choice Air for July or August departures. Cabins are going for as little as $599 for an interior on August 27th, or $549 on July 2nd. All these combo deals can get complicated—call us (800.668.6414) and let us figure out what works best for you.
In looking at our fall selection of best deals that we posted a couple of weeks ago, I saw that none of the prices had gone up and a few (including the one above) had come down. Check out our picks if the above cruise doesn’t work for you. . .we have a variety of destinations, durations and cruise lines..
Okay, technically, this one goes to the Western Caribbean, but even if you’ve “been there, done that” you should still check out the Oasis or Allure of the Seas. In my opinion, they could stay pierside and still be amazing! We’ve got a terrific rate on Central Park Balconies—starting at $975 on October 29th, and we’re throwing in $75 Onboard Credit. Gotta have the Oceanview Balcony? They’re just $110 more..
On Deck: What’s Coming Up Next Week
Norwegian’s DASH Sale
It’s Baaack! Up to $250 in Onboard Credit, and 50% reduced deposits, mean you can grab a cabin or two with less out-of-pocket today. . . and less out-of-pocket at the end of the cruise! This sale starts Tuesday and ends Friday (June 24th) and covers just about all of the remaining 2011 departures—Alaska, the Bahamas & Florida, Hawaii, Bermuda, 3 & 4 Day Bahamas, Europe, Caribbean Gulf, Transatlantic and Pacific. So for Fall and Winter 2011 NCL Vacations, wait until next Tuesday to book. [Save 800.668.6414 in your phone and call us next week]
