Hurricane Irene Northeast Cruise Impacts
Note to CruiseSource email Subscribers – I apologize about the daily updates on Hurricane Irene, but CruiseSource has been helping thousands of cruisers this week get information and advice about the impacts to their cruise vacation. CruiseSource has been reporting cruise line impacts from hurricanes since 2008.
This post was written at 7:00 PM ET on 8/26. At this time the eye of Hurricane Irene is 179 miles from Wilmington, NC.
Impacts to Cruises Departing from the Northeast
Due to the track of the storm, the cruises departing on Saturday 8/27 and Sunday 8/28 from New Jersey, New York, and Baltimore have been the most impacted by Hurricane Irene. Here is the current list of sailings where the departure time or day have been impacted.:

Royal Caribbean Explorer of the Seas departing 8/27
Currently, Royal Caribbean has the Explorer of the Seas departing at 4 PM which is an hour early than scheduled. I would monitor this one very closely, I believe it has a good chance to get moved up an hour or two more. Check rccl.com in the morning, and plan on getting to the pier at noon to board.

The Veendam is coming back a day early on 8/27. And it will let the 8/21 passengers off a day early. Passengers from the 8/21 cruise are able to stay onboard the Veendam until Sunday 8/28 if they choose. The Veendam will accept passengers for the 8/28 sailing on Monday 8/29 from 8AM – 1PM.

NEW Update 7AM ET 8/27: Carnival Cruise Line encourages all guests sailing on the Carnival Glory to make plans to arrive at Pier 88 between the hours of 9:00 AM and 1:00 PM. Please bear with us as the debarkation process from the previous sailing will be ongoing, but we will do all possible to make you comfortable. The CCL Glory may leave earlier than 3 PM – get to the pier early!
The Carnival Pride originally scheduled for 8/28
The Carnival Pride departing from Baltimore is now scheduled to depart on 8/29. Passengers will need to board between 10am – 2pm.
Caribbean Princess scheduled for 8/27
The Caribbean Princess will start boarding early tomorrow at 10am. They have not announced a departure time yet, so I advise getting there at 10am. They are sending emails to passengers, if you have not received an email contact your travel agent or the cruise line.
Continue to stay in touch with your travel agent – and if you have travel insurance, contact them to go over your options. I will continue to update this page with announcements.
If you have specific questions, please leave them in the comments - I will continue to respond quickly.
