AMAWaterways Celebrates 2012 with the Launch of the Beautiful MS AmaCerto

MS AmaCerto launches April 2012

At 443 feet long and 38 feet wide, the MS AmaCerto, which launches on the Danube in April 2012, is as big as a ship can be to negotiate the locks along the European rivers from the North Sea to the Black Sea. “So what,” you might think, “bigger isn’t necessarily better.” In many cases this is true, but on the MS AmaCerto bigger means more choices for the passengers.

On most river cruises ships, there is only one place to dine. On the MS AmaCerto, there will not only be the main restaurant, but the Erlebnis Chef’s Table restaurant where 24 passengers can watch a private chef prepare a special tasting menu and two wine bars where passengers can enjoy their meal while sampling fine regional wines. For inquiring minds who really want to know—“erlebnis” is a German word that means “experience” in English.

For those who would just as soon not get dressed to have a drink, the MS AmaCerto will offer a heated pool on the Sun Deck with a swim-up bar.

On the MS AmaCerto, 49 of the 82 staterooms will have not only one balcony, but two balconies! These deluxe staterooms offer the unique “Twin Balcony” concept which features a French balcony for unimpeded views and fresh air plus a separate Outside balcony which allows for private al fresco enjoyment of the river cruise experience. Twin balcony staterooms range from 210-235 square feet and the four suites are a spacious 350 square feet. Gone forever are the days when a river cruise ship accommodation was a closet with two bunk beds.

The MS AmaCerto will offer shore excursions at three different paces:

1. For the athletic passengers who prefer to jog up to the castle on the hill and back to the ship
2. For those who are game to walk down from the castle on the hill back to the ship but definitely want the motor coach to take them up the hill
3. For the passengers who would prefer to save their strides for walking around the castle; they will take the motor coach to and from the castle. This excursion is also for late risers who don’t have time to walk to and from the castle.

For passengers who would rather ride a bike, the MS AmaCerto will have a fleet of bicycles on board. How about a splendid ride down the picturesque Wachau Valley?

Join us for a special AmaCerto Charter Event

I am particularly excited about the MS AmaCerto because Cruise Holidays has chartered the ship on October 4-11, 2012 for an exclusive Cruise Holidays voyage along the legendary Danube from Nuremberg to Budapest. It also includes a three-day pre-cruise stay in Prague, “the city of a hundred spires” and amenities that you won’t find on any AMAWaterways river cruise available to the public. My husband, Steve and I will be aboard and I have invited several of our clients to join us. If you’ve been putting off cruising in Europe waiting for family and friends to join you, don’t wait any longer. On this cruise, you will be part of the Cruise Holidays family.

About Colleen Turner

There comes a point in a person’s life when you want to try to have it all. That point came for me in June 2007 when I decided to buy a cruise travel agency and become part of the Cruise Holidays family. After 20 years in the corporate world, I asked myself, “Wouldn’t it be wonderful if I could travel as part of my work and turn people on to the spice of life in a difficult culture?” Since that momentous day in June 2007, I’ve helped hundreds of clients plan the cruise vacation of their dreams. I like to focus on culturally rich cruising experiences on small ships and river cruises. On these destination-oriented cruises which often overnight in ports of call, guests are able to explore the bustling cities and charming villages and get a feeling for the rhythms of day-to-day life. I want my clients to feel the magic of being in a new, strange land; I want their visit to tantalize all five senses – all the better for them to go home and tell colorful stories to their family and friends. Although English is by far my best language, I can carry on a spirited conversation in Portuguese and French. I am a licensed private pilot with an instrument rating, have a Bachelor in Science in Business Administration from San Francisco State University and an MBA from the University of California, Berkeley. Most importantly, I want to share my passion for cruising with you and help make all your travel experiences better than you could have ever imagined.

  1. We will be in a nice AA Cabin on the Violin deck for the President’s Cruise in October. We are longtime cruisers of Celebrity and Holland America and thought it time to look at a river cruise. The larger size rooms are good as at 6″4″, 250 lbs I don’t fit in a 170 sq. ft. cabin that well. We have always had a balcony and took this cruise because it offered the same luxury – sometimes you just want to veg with a drink and quiet surroundings.

Looking forward to seeing pictures of the MS AmaCerto.
