Celebrity Cruises’ New Celebrity Reflection ‘Clearly’ Presents Industry’s Most Unique Shower
After revealing in April that the “Reflection Suite” on Celebrity Cruises’ Celebrity Reflection will feature an all-glass shower extending out over the edge of the ship, the modern luxury brand has received so much interest that it has released renderings of the intriguing space.
The 1,636-square-foot Reflection Suite with 194-square-foot veranda will be Celebrity’s first two-bedroom suite, complete with its distinctive sea-view bathroom with soothing rain shower, and the host of amenities associated with Celebrity’s luxury suites, including the brand’s round-the-clock European butler service.
Celebrity’s Senior VP of Hotel Operations Lisa Lutoff-Perlo was completely “transparent” about how the brand will preserve the privacy of guests using the unique glass shower: “We made a big investment in ensuring our guests can enjoy the shower entirely free of any concerns of being seen,” said Lutoff-Perlo. “They can enjoy breathtaking sea views while discreetly showering, courtesy of the shower’s special reflective glass. But, if they seek even further privacy, the shower also features ‘smart glass.’ At the flick of a switch, guests can activate an electrochromatic technology which instantly transforms the glass from transparent to translucent. We even went so far as to install a special sensor, so if guests prefer, the glass can be automatically transformed for them. It’s yet another example of the modern luxury experience that only Celebrity delivers.”
Celebrity Reflection will enter service October 12, 2012, on a nine-night European cruise from Amsterdam to Barcelona.
World-Class Athletes Go Head-to-Head Aboard the Oasis
Royal Caribbean International is currently hosting world-class figure skater Michelle Kwan and world champion diver Greg Louganis in the first ever Royal Deck-athlon onboard the Oasis of the Seas.
The two are facing-off in two commercial spots that will air on NBC-owned stations throughout the country. Viewers will be directed to visit the cruise line’s Facebook page to see the competition in a series of 10 events, including: surfing the FlowRider; climbing the rock wall; skating in the ice rink; diving at the AquaTheatre; zip lining across the Boardwalk; table tennis, mini-golf and basketball in the Sports Zone; playing blackjack in Casino Royale; and cupcake decorating in the Cupcake Cupboard.
Consumers can get in the game by voting for their favorite competitor at the cruise line’s Facebook page. Fans can vote once a day until August 12 for the chance to win daily prizes as well as the ultimate grand prize – the opportunity to recreate their own Deck-athlon on a seven-night Caribbean cruise for two on Oasis of the Seas or Allure of the Seas.
The commercial spots featuring the world-class pair will air on NBC-owned stations in Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Orlando, Philadelphia, San Diego and San Francisco as well as select affiliates in Orlando, Tampa, Ft. Myers, West Palm Beach and Atlanta this summer.
MSC Divina Qualifies as Gluten-Free Friendly
MSC Cruises is proud to announce that MSC Divina is officially ‘gluten-free friendly’ and has been qualified to serve gluten-free products by the Italian Celiac Association (AIC). Following in the wake of MSC Fantasia, MSC Splendida, MSC Magnifica, MSC Orchestra, MSC Poesia and MSC Musica, MSC’s beautiful new flagship becomes the latest ship in the fleet to be named a legitimate partner in the AIC’s ‘Alimentazione Fuori Casa’, their eating-out network.
MSC Cruises has therefore been collaborating with the AIC, a member of the Association of European Coeliac Societies (AOECS), since 2008. Since 2010, MSC has also adhered to the special ‘cruises project’ which guarantees compliance with the AIC’s safety rules and directives for gluten-free foods on board its ships. MSC follows strict regulations for preparing its gluten-free menus on board. Gluten-free products are stored in special areas and at least one kitchen on each ship, managed by specially trained staff, is reserved for the preparation of gluten-free dishes.
