How is Tropical Storm Isaac impacting cruises?

Tropical Storm Isaac Cruise Update: At this point there have only been a few minor changes to cruise itineraries that departed earlier this week.
For cruises departing after Friday 8/24, there have not been any announcements about changes to itineraries due to Tropical Storm Isaac.
But as I stated in my first Tropical Storm Isaac post, cruisers schedule to depart out of Miami on Monday 8/27 will want to monitor CruiseSource.us or their cruise lines website closely for updates. Click to Subscribe to get daily updates in your email. I also recommend being in contact with your travel agent… helping you in times like this just one of the benefits of working with a travel professional.
So if you are departing on the Allure of the Seas departing Sunday 8/26 or Majesty of the Seas, Monarch of the Seas, Norwegian Sky, or Carnival Imagination departing on Monday 8/27 you’ll want to monitor the path of the storm closely.
Tropical Storm Isaac Project Path
I think it is a rule that we have to include a new projected path image with each blog post. Here are two images. The first is from the NWS, which you have probably seen all over the internet. The second image shows what appears to be good news for cruisers.
This image below is from my most trusted weather source, Brad Panovich. He feels that the trend is becoming more obvious that tropical storm Isaac is shifting toward the west. While this may be good news for most cruisers departing Florida, it’s not welcomed news from our friends in New Orleans.
The main takeaway is that at this point there is no telling when and where Tropical Storm Isaac or Hurricane Isaac will make landfall in the US. Just continue to follow the news prepare yourself to be a little a flexible on your vacation plans in case you have a change in your cruise itinerary.
If you have any specific questions about your upcoming cruise due to Tropical Storm Isaac please leave them in the comments. I will monitor and answer each one ASAP.

We are flying into Miami Sept. 8th and boarding our ship on Sept. 9th.(Carnival Valor) Our first stop is Key West. I know its two weeks away but do you think there will be any issues that far out?
Thanks.
I do not believe there will be any major issues from the two current storms -Isaac or Joyce. Overall, things look pretty good for your week, but storms can popup pretty fast this time of year.
If you have not bought travel insurance yet, I would recommend it.

Once a Tropical Storm is named you cannot buy travel insuarnce and be protected by that storm. Since you are two weeks out from cruising, any storm that may impact your cruise has not been named yet – so this is a good time to buy the insurance.
For all that travel insurance covers, I recommend it any time of year… but I especially recommend it during hurricane season.
We were the first blog to report Cruise Itinerary impacts from tropical weather online. Subscribe to CruiseSource to stay informed.
We have a Limousine company with plenty of cruise activity. Have scheduled pick up Sun 8/26 @ POE
Royal Carib/Allure of Seas and
outgoing trip on Carnival/Valor…
what is the status of these ships
and what is the best way to track
their activity in view of the
prospect of Issac?
Thank you.

Allure of the Seas has just been rescheduled. It has moved to a Tuesday departure instead of the originally scheduled Sunday departure.
Where can I find updates about the Norwegian Sky Ship (departing 8/27)? I cannot find this information on the Norwegian website…
No changes to NCL Sky yet. They will update their site if they change it… we will also announce it here on CruiseSource.us if they change the departure time. Thank you!!
Norwegian Sky will delay her arrival into Miami on Monday, August 27. The ship is now expected to arrive between noon and 4 pm on Monday — depending on when port of Miami opens back up. check http://ncl.com for details.
How about the Carnival Elation scheduled to leave 8/30 out of New Orleans?
I recommend following our most trusted source for weather, Brad Panovich. http://facebook.com/bradpanovich
I reported here: http://cruisesource.us/2012/08/how-is-tropical-storm-isaac-impacting-cruises/ That Brad was stating that Isaac had been shifting westward, which would mean those in New Orleans or Mobile should keep an eye on the storm.
As of now, there have not been any announcements about the Carnival Elation because Hurricane Isaac is still too far out to accurately preidct when and where it will make landfall on the Gulf Coast. Keep your eye on http://cruisesource.us — we will update the site as soon as there are any announcements in regards to the Elation.
You may also want to be in contact with your travel professional during this time.
Thanks,
Rich Tucker
we are set to fly into New Orleans on Sept 2 for the night, then depart on Sept 3rd on the Elation. Any news how Isaac might impact this?
I do not think the Carnival Elation Sept 2 departure will be impacted by Hurricane Isaac. But I could be wrong about the amount of damage in New Orleans from the Storm.
Carnival has said that they will keep you updated on changes via mobile. text CCL1 to CRUISE (278473) for the updates.
