Instead of boring or heated conversation this year at the Thanksgiving table, take this post with you to start planning your 2014 mulitgenerational family cruise vacation.
Trust me, vacation conversation will be much more enjoyable than debating politics.
Top 5 Cruise Ships for multigenerational families
#1. The Oasis and Allure of the Seas: For the family who wants it all!
These two sister ships are the largest, most innovative cruise ships in the world. They offer the most activities for kids of all ages from Flowrider surfing simulator to iceskating. The entertainment is among the best at sea offering a diverse range of shows that includes dive shows at the AquaTheater and Broadway shows like Chicago in the main theater.
The DreamWorks characters and parade provide unforgettable moments for the little ones.
The Oasis and the Allure offer the widest selection of cabin types from central park balcony cabins to loft suites. For those in the family with a larger budget, my personal favorite are the AquaTheater Suites.
PRO Booking Tip: The Allure and Oasis are the largest cruise ships in the world. For your oldest family members, you will want to get cabins that are located close to their favorite 2 or 3 public areas. This will minimize how much they have to

#2. Norwegian Breakaway: For the family who wants to go to Bermuda and depart from NYC.
The Norwegian Breakaway is another highly innovative cruise ship. It is the first ship to turn the promenade concept area inside/out to create a waterfront experience with bars and restaurants.
The kids will LOVE the waterslide park featuring a high speed free-fall slide and the ropes course that allows them to ‘walk the plank’ 17 decks above the sea. They’ll also love the Nickelodeon characters.
For the grandparents or other family members looking for a more exclusive vacation experience, the Norwegian Breakaway offers the luxurious Haven. The Haven is the private pool, restaurant and bar accessible only by those who are staying in a Haven Suite. No other contemporary cruise ship offers such an exclusive experience.

#3. Celebrity Silhouette: For the family who wants a premium experience that also includes a robust selection of activities and amenities that will keep the whole family happy.
If your multigenerational family only has a few kids in it, then the Celebrity Silhouette may be the best choice for you. They offer an excellent kids program, but the ship will have noticeably less kids than the other ships on this list. The Celebrity Silhouette is in the Celebrity Solstice class which offer the Celebrity lawn club on the top deck. In my opinion, there is no better place to watch the sunset while sailing away from your favorite port than on the lawn club with real Bermuda grass on your bare feet.
In 2014, the Celebrity Silhouette will offer 7-night Caribbean Cruises from January – April and November – December. During the Summer, the Celebrity Silhouette will offer a wide variety of Mediterranean Cruises for the family who has already done the Caribbean and Bermuda.

#4 Liberty of the Seas: For the busy family who can only find time for a short cruise, but also needs ALL the amenities that come with the largest cruise ships.
The Liberty of the Seas is the newest and largest cruise ship offering 4 and 5 night cruises. The Liberty of the Seas is my top recommendation for first-time cruisers because the Liberty gives first-timers the opportunity to test out cruising one of the best examples of everything that cruising has to offer.
The Liberty of the Seas has much of what the Allure and Oasis do just on a slightly smaller scale. To sweeten the pot, we’ve seen some truly amazing prices on the Liberty of the Seas.

#5 Disney Fantasy: For the family who wants the Disney experience, but doesn’t want the lines and headaches that come with Disney World.
My guess is that 9 out of 10 dads who have taken their family on both a Disney Cruise and to Walt Disney World would rather go on the Disney Cruise. Disney Cruises are a truly luxurious experience when you consider the food, service, and attention to detail design and decor.
The Disney Cruise was the best money I’ve spent on a FAMILY vacation. Parents and kids are truly pampered on the high seas.

The kids will get their complete fill of the full Disney experience while the parents get to enjoy quality adult time together.
The Disney experience even carries over onto their private Bahamas Island, Castaway Cay.
The Disney Fantasy is Disney’s newest ship and offers 7-night Caribbean Cruises year round.
