Late last night, I wrote a blog post about the likelihood of cruisers being impacted by snow storm due to their flights being canceled or delayed due to the first major winter snow storm of 2014.
At the time, I was not aware of any reports of cruises impacted by the snow storm.
After seeing this image on Facebook of the Queen Mary 2 in NYC today, I did a little research and found that she will not depart on time.
Queen Mary 2 Departure Delayed due to snow storm
Here is the official statement from Cunard as of 3:30 PM ET today:
For all guests boarding Queen Mary 2 in New York today, we can confirm that she will not depart before midnight this evening, due to the inclement weather. The cruise terminal is open and accessible by road. We will continue to monitor the situation and will advise you of any development. We wish all guests joining us on board, a safe journey to the cruise terminal.
Although she has delayed departure until midnight, there will probably be quite a few cruisers who will not be able to fly into New York by midnight tonight. Just another reminder of the importance of travel insurance especially during winter months.
Wishing everyone safe travels today and tomorrow.
