As Fox News reported there are at least 2,300 flight cancellations and 3,900 flight delays caused by our current winter storm with 100 million people in its path.
While this winter storm is not impacting any specific cruises, it is impacting some cruisers and it serves as an excellent reminder as to why buying travel insurance is so important in the winter months.
Cruisers impacted by winter storm
There will be cruisers on Friday who will miss their cruise due to flight delays or cancellations. Unfortunately, those who do not have travel insurance will lose all the money they spent on their cruise.
One of the biggest misconceptions for winter air-travel is that those who live in southern or western states will not be impacted by winter storms. The truth is that a flight departing from Dallas, Texas may be waiting on an plane coming from New York City. If the flight from New York is cancelled then the flight from Dallas will also be cancelled.
If they have reputable travel insurance, then they will be able to receive a full refund due to the flights being cancelled due to weather.
So, it would still suck to miss your cruise… but at least those who have their flight cancelled due to the snow storm and purchased travel insurance will receive a full refund from their insurance company
PRO TIP: Fly in a day early to reduce stress and chances of completely missing your cruise vacation.
Also on the news and in all of our Facebook newfeeds is how many people get sick during this time of year. Just another reason to buy travel insurance during the winter months. If you have a cruise booked in the next couple of months make sure that you buy travel insurance.
Work with a travel professional when it comes to purchasing your travel insurance. If you purchase travel insurance after you have become ill or there is inclement weather you will most likely not be protected.[fbshare] [button link=”http://cruisedeals.com/clients/travel_insurance.asp?utm_source=facebook&utm_campaign=travel_insurance” color=”orange”]GET A Travel Insurance Quote[/button]
