UPDATED IMPACTS BELOW at 8:15 AM 8/24/15
Hurricane Danny is the first 2015 hurricane predicted to make landfall in the Caribbean which means there could be some impacts to cruise itineraries caused by the storm.
We cruised last week on the Freedom of the Seas – we planned it knowing that it was Hurricane Season. The great part of cruise vacations vs. land based vacations during hurricane season is that a cruise can navigate around the storms. Many times when there is an active hurricane in the Caribbean cruise itineraries will change, but that is better than the whole vacation being ruined.
Cruise Impacts caused by Hurricane Danny
Back in 2008, I was the first online reporting cruise impacts cause impacts. My main focus is looking for impacts to departure date & arrival dates from homeports and cancellations of full itineraries. Both are extremely rare, but they do happen.
As far as itineraries go, the projected path does look like it will change up some Eastern Caribbean & Bahamas Cruise itineraries for cruises departing this weekend, 8/22 & 8/23.
Hurricanes are still way too unpredictable to say for sure when and where they will hit a week out, so as of now the cruise lines have not reported any changes to itineraries.
We will be monitoring Hurricane Danny and cruise line announcements for cruise impacts from Hurricane Danny. There are 2 more potential storms in the Atlantic behind Hurricane Danny. Follow CruiseSource on Twitter or Subscribe to the blog for updates.
